From 29 July to 2 August 2024, the EURASIP - IEEE SPS SSRM (Summer School on Remote Sensing and Microscopy Image Processing) international summer school was held at the Faculty of Information Technology.
It was the first summer school where remote sensing and microscopy image processing were jointly presented in one course, as the image processing methods of the two fields are not far from each other. After preselection of the applicants, 15 participants (of 10 different citizenship) arrived in Veszprém. The scientific programme consisted of lectures by 9 internationally renowned professors, while a Hungarian founded but internationally operating IT company presented excellent examples of "digital twins": state-of-the-art IT methods for digital mapping and modelling of urban trees. Participating students presented their own results in poster presentations and worked on group exercises. In addition, a rich cultural programme made the event unforgettable, which was supported by the University of Pannonia, IEEE SPS, EURASIP organisations, SZTE (HU) and INRIA (FR).
